What Is Genital Aesthetics?

Genital aesthetic surgery is the newest and fastest growing sub-specialty in the broad spectrum of gynecology. Surgery includes procedures designed to change the aesthetic or functional aspects of the genital area.

Although many procedures are performed within the scope of genital aesthetics, the most frequently performed operations are vaginal tightening, labia minora reduction, clitoral valve reduction and vaginoplasty operations.

In addition to all these surgical operations, Femilift, a Fractional Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Laser, can be preferred for the most common problems seen in women such as looseness or dryness.

What Are the Purposes Of Genital Aesthetic Procedures?

  • These aesthetic applications restore tightness and functionality in the vagina.
  • They improve the overall appearance of the treated area.
  • They can give you back the confidence you lost as a result of your vaginal problems.
  • They increase self-confidence, self-esteem, and provide a better quality of personal life.
  • These operations also help improve existing medical conditions such as urinary incontinence.

How Are Genital Aesthetic Procedures Performed?

Although these operations are mostly applied for cosmetic reasons, whether the person is suitable for this operation is assessed by the plastic surgeon during the consultation.

During the pre-operative consultation process, the body structure is examined by the plastic surgeon. At this point, it is very important to clearly express the complaints.

There are multiple methods used in genital aesthetics applications. The procedure that is suitable for the body structure of the patient is selected in line with the doctor’s recommendation. In operations performed under general anesthesia, steps are followed for the method deemed appropriate.

What is Vaginal Tightening (Vaginoplasty)?

Vaginoplasty is a surgical procedure that remedies loosening in the vagina. It tightens the vagina and surrounding muscles and soft tissues.

Vaginal enlargement and relaxation may occur after childbirth. This can naturally cause dysfunction in the vagina. The vaginal tightening operation allows women who suffer from this condition to improve both functionally and aesthetically.

The most common risks of vaginal tightening surgery include bleeding, infection and scarring, but these are not very common. During the surgical procedure, bleeding is controlled, stopped and antibiotics are administered to prevent infection. Scarring rarely occurs in vaginoplasty.

The Recovery Period After Vaginoplasty

As in all operations, you will be asked to follow some recommendations after the treatment to speed up the healing process. In particular, during the recovery period:

  • You should not lift heavy objects,
  • You should avoid the pool and taking baths.

What is Labiaplasty?

Everyone’s facial features, body type and skin color are different. The female genital area, known as the vulva, also varies among individuals. The vulva includes the lips; The larger lips are called the labia majora and the inner lips are called the labia minora.

In most women, the inner lips are not symmetrical. It is therefore expected for one of the lips to be larger, thicker or longer than the other. None of these conditions pose a medical problem. The inner lips (labia minora) are, however, more sensitive than the outer lips (labia majora). For this reason, in the case of sagging in the inner lips, some problems such as pain and getting stuck in clothes may be experienced, causing a lack of self-confidence in the person.

Labiaplasty operations are described as operations to reduce the enlarged, elongated, darkened, drooping or irregular inner lips by cutting them, to treat them cosmetically.

What Are the Causes Of Structural Changes In the Inner Lips (Labia Minora)?

One of your legs may be longer than the other. Your inner and outer lips in your genital area are not exactly the same. There is no right size for the inner lips either. Although the cause of the structural change in the inner lips is not known exactly, the reason may be:

  • Genetic factors,
  • Changes in the body during adolescence,
  • Estrogen increase,
  • Increased blood flow and pressure and structural changes in the genital area during pregnancy,
  • Sagging due to infection or trauma.
